Faith-Led Female Founders Forging Futures Together

The Spark Collective champions faith-driven women business owners in their entrepreneurial journeys, cultivating a social community where women grow and thrive in their personal and professional lives.

 About Us

The Spark Collective is a community of female founders who are driven by their faith. It is a space—both virtually and in person—where women can connect, champion one another, and let their hair down. Surrounded by other like-minded women, members of The Spark Collective invest in themselves and each other, while gaining encouragement and resources for growing their business.

Whether that is trading ideas or petitioning a prayer request, there is power in women supporting women. You can vent about client conundrums, talk about best accounting practices, discuss pitching investors, explore software platforms, balance self-care and your business, all while happily celebrating each other’s wins.  The Spark Collective is a community where grace abounds and new ideas are ever flowing. It’s a community that will come alongside you during the peaks and valleys of your business journey.

The Spark Collective currently meets six times a year in Montgomery County, Maryland, with hopes of future Spark Collective chapters located throughout the DC-Metro region and beyond.

Is The Spark Collective for you?

Have you been to networking meetings that seemed promising but turned out to be nothing more than a slimy sales pitch? Maybe you’ve tried connecting with other Christians at women’s ministries but felt alone as a female business owner. Or perhaps you’ve attended mastermind groups but didn’t feel like you could be the entrepreneur God made you to be. If any of this sounds familiar, we want to welcome you to The Spark Collective.

The Spark Collective is a space where faith-driven female founders can find support, show up authentically, and gain resources for their entrepreneurial journey. This isn’t a networking group; it’s a social-first community where members find meaningful connections with other women in similar positions. It is an intentional way for faith-led founders to seek advice, invest in themselves, and cultivate supportive professional relationships that act as on-demand counsel. A natural byproduct of the relationships that have been forged creates opportunities for business collaborations and referrals.

Our Story

The Spark Collective was created by Courtney Malengo, Founder of Spark and Buzz Communications. In 2020, during the peak of the pandemic, Courtney realized that juggling her business and working from home while tag-teaming a toddler was going to get old quickly if she didn’t have the right support.

She had been on the hunt for a like-minded community, trying various women’s groups and faith groups, but found none that offered an intersection for faith-led female founders. Courtney knew she needed something more than a networking group—and she wanted to steer clear of the drama and competition that seemed all too prevalent within the workplace and typical women’s groups. Courtney wanted a place where women actually support and empower one another, rather than merely pay lip service to that ideal. Based on conversations with others, she knew she wasn’t alone.

So, Courtney set out to create the space she longed for and, in doing so, founded a vibrant community of faith-led female founders. The Spark Collective launched in March of 2020 and it has been incredible to witness what God has done in each woman’s life and business.

Join The Spark Collective

The women of the Spark Collective meet in person six times a year in the DC-Metro area, specifically in Montgomery County, Maryland. In the future, we hope to have other chapters throughout the DC-Metro region and beyond.

In addition to formal bi-monthly (every other month) group gatherings, we come together for other events throughout the year, some of which include spouses, significant others, and children. We get together for pool parties, barbeques and hiking adventures, as well as brunch, wine tastings, and pottery making classes.
